Success!  Last week was Miles' birthday (he'll hate me for saying it, but thirty-nine!  He'll be forty next year, which seems so old, but I'm hardly going to say that to him.  He's never seemed old to me, anyway, and that's all that should matter), but we've both been far to busy to have celebrated properly until this weekend.  So I made him a cake, and I do hate cooking with magic, so it took a very long time and lots of trial and error.  But I think it came together quite nicely!  We're hoping to have dinner out once he gets in from the office, and then I don't know.  Maybe we'll stay out for a bit.  And then home for cake!  I hope he likes it.  Sometimes it's hard to tell if he's trying to avoid hurting my feelings.  

However, in hindsight, I think a whole cake may have been a bit much for just the two of us.  Maybe I can bring some of the leftovers to the neighbors.  They have some young kids who I'm sure would jump at the chance to further their sugar intake.  Though their parents might hate me for it.  They already think Miles and I are a bit odd.  But I guess that's what happens when you live near Muggles.  They're bound to notice something's different now and then.  

My shoulders are feeling a bit sore since the other day.  I think I've been getting sloppy in my form.  Something I ought to address before it affects anything important.  On the bright side, it's a good reason to ask Miles for a backrub.
